Early Works - Strange Pursuit
During my undergraduate studies, I was interested in vegetarianism as a diet. In my research papers, I discussed the pros and cons of the vegan diet and whether or not parents should raise their children on a vegan diet. I concluded that vegan diets do more harm than good, which changed my perspective on vegetarianism. While researching this work, I realized that vegetarianism affects people not only in terms of physical nutrition but can also significantly impact their innermost thoughts. I chose silicone as a material, cast pouring into the shape of different vegetables and toned to varying colors of human underskin. I placed them on the ladder to mark the rules and hierarchies of the world's layers. At the same time, the ladder signifies the desire and pursuit of a higher social hierarchy, which, due to people's first impression of it, is to try to climb up and climb up the ladder.
